El vocalista de U2, Paul David Hewson, más conocido como Bono, nacía el 10 de mayo de 1960 en Dublín, Irlanda.
Su trayectoria musical comenzó en su adolescencia. En la escuela formó un grupo con Larry Muller Jr., los hermanos David y Dick Evans (Dick abandonó la banda al poco tiempo), y Adam Clayton. Pasaron por varios nombres: “Feedback”, “The Hype” y, finalmente, “U2”. Al comienzo, Bono era el encargado de escribir las letras de las canciones, cantar y tocar la guitarra, pero posteriormente la guitarra principal quedó en manos de Dave Evans, también conocido como The Edge, y Bono se centró en su labor como vocalista.
A lo largo de su trayectoria, la banda fue galardonada con numerosos Premios Grammy, Globos de Oro y MTV Video Music Awards, entre otros. Entre sus álbumes de estudio se encuentran “Boy” (1980), “The Joshua Tree” (1987), “Achtung Baby” (1991) y “Songs of Innocence” (2014).
Bono trabajó también con grandes artistas como Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash y Luciano Pavarotti. Además colabora con diversas causas humanitarias, lo que le valió dos nominaciones al Premio Nobel de la Paz en 2005 y 2006.
